🧘‍♀️ What Is Accessible Yoga

Accessible Yoga is a personalised adaptation of classical yoga — designed to serve a wide range of bodies and needs.

Using breath-led movement, supported postures, and calming techniques, it offers the benefits of yoga without requiring flexibility, balance, or prior experience.

This approach puts function and dignity first.

Whether you move seated, lying down, or standing with support, every session is paced to your energy and comfort level — not a performance ideal.

✴️ What to Expect in a Private Session

Your session begins with a short consultation to understand your needs, concerns, and preferences.

Every class is crafted to support you safely and meaningfully — with plenty of room for rest, feedback, and adaptation.

Depending on your condition and goals, sessions may include:

  • Supported postures using chairs, bolsters, yoga walls, or props

  • Joint-friendly sequences to ease stiffness and improve daily mobility

  • Breathwork to support nervous system health, clarity, and focus

  • Mindfulness or grounding tools to help with overwhelm or anxiety

  • Rehabilitation-based movement for post-surgery or injury recovery

  • Balance and gait support for fall prevention and safe walking

Nothing is forced.

There is no requirement to get on the floor, hold difficult poses, or push through discomfort.

Each movement is there to support — not challenge — your body’s current state.

🙋 Who This Is For

Accessible Yoga is ideal if you:

  • Feel excluded by traditional group classes

  • Live with fatigue, pain, or chronic tension that limits your energy

  • Are managing a neurological or autoimmune condition

  • Value a practice that adapts to your natural pace

  • Want a space where dignity, not difficulty, defines your practice

✨ Client Experiences

"I started yoga in my late 40s to stay flexible as I age, and was looking for an instructor who could work effectively with an inflexible body. Sheela is that and more.

She consistently prioritises students’ well-being, giving clear instruction and attentive observation to minimise injury risk. I’ve benefitted from her use of props and modifications tailored to my body.

She explains each posture and the muscles involved, and creates a light, enjoyable atmosphere. I always look forward to class and feel I’m progressing in my goal of staying flexible."
