Private Trauma-Informed Yoga

🤍 Private Sessions for Healing, Grounding & Nervous System Support

Trauma-informed yoga offers a gentle, intelligent approach to movement that honours your body’s boundaries, history, and capacity in the moment.

Led by an experienced, certified teacher, these private one-on-one sessions are tailored to support nervous system regulation, body trust, and emotional resilience — at a pace that’s always yours.

Whether you're navigating the after-effects of trauma, recovering from burnout, or seeking a movement practice that respects your limits, this is a safe and empowering space to reconnect with your body.

🧘‍♀️ What Is Trauma-Informed Yoga?

Trauma-informed yoga is not a style of poses — it is a way of offering movement that centres safety, choice, and compassion.

Rather than instructing or correcting, I use invitational language and adaptive movement to create an environment where you can listen to your body, make your own choices, and re-establish a sense of trust and stability within.

This approach draws from contemporary somatic psychology, neuroscience, and yoga therapy — and can be profoundly grounding for those living with complex trauma, anxiety, chronic stress, or pain.

🌿 What to Expect

Every session is tailored to you — not just your body, but your lived experience.

You can expect:

  • A calm, supportive environment held with warmth, consistency, and clear boundaries — whether in studio, at home, or online.

  • Adaptive, stabilising movement options that meet your energy level and comfort on the day. All postures are offered as choices, not directives.

  • Breath awareness introduced gently — only when it feels safe, never forced or imposed.

  • Guided interoception to help you notice internal cues with less fear or reactivity, and begin to rebuild trust in your body.

  • Simple, respectful cues using non-triggering language, with no pressure to “perform” or get anything “right.”

  • No hands-on adjustments unless you specifically request them. Your physical and emotional boundaries are always honoured.

  • Optional nervous system education to support self-understanding and emotional regulation, when appropriate.

Above all, you remain in charge of what happens on the mat — with full permission to rest, modify, or pause at any time.

If you’re new to yoga, that’s okay.

If you’re anxious about how your body might respond, that’s okay too.

This is not about achieving a pose. It’s about slowly, gently learning to feel safe in your body again.

🙋 Who This Is For

Trauma-informed yoga may be supportive if you:

  • Are healing from trauma, burnout, or emotional overwhelm

  • Struggle with anxiety, dissociation, or chronic stress

  • Are looking for a gentle re-entry into movement

  • Feel unsafe or disconnected in your body

  • Want a slower, more compassionate yoga experience that honours your autonomy

You don’t need a diagnosis or a trauma history to benefit from this work.

✨ Client Experience

“I came to Sheela completely broken. I couldn’t walk more than five minutes, I couldn’t sleep or sit without pain, and I genuinely wanted to end everything. But from our first session, she made me feel safe — not judged, not pitied. Just seen. Within three classes, I was standing upright again, with 85% less pain than I’d had in over a decade.”
