This active engagement helps improve strength, flexibility, and mobility over time. In contrast, a massage is a passive treatment where a therapist manipulates your muscles without your active involvement. The active nature of yoga and Pilates encourages the body to adapt and become more flexible and mobile on its own.


Long-Term Benefits: While a massage can provide immediate relief from tightness and stiffness, the effects are often temporary. In contrast, yoga and Pilates offer long-term benefits by addressing the underlying causes of tightness and stiffness. As someone who understands your muscular imbalances and weaknesses, your yoga / Pilates teacher will be in the best position to teach you targeted and effective stretches & movements you can do on your own at home in between your class time with them. Ask your teacher for homework :)
