Workplace Wellness

22 August, 2019

It was an honour to be on a panel of 5 health & wellness professionals at 'Twilio After Hours: Workplace Wellness in Singapore'. I kicked off the evening with a pranayama (breath control) practice to calm and centre the room. We had about 130 in attendance - it was a lively crowd and there was a definite buzz in the air. I imagine that a gastropub downtown must have been one of the more novel places to practise Nadi Shodhana lol. We then went on to discuss tools for reducing stress, preventing burnout, and making work environments more inclusive for people with mental health challenges. It was a fantastic evening at Fat Chap, Suntec City. It is my hope that "workplace wellness" isn't just a buzzword. It is far more than downloading another app to teach us meditation. It is ultimately to do with how our society organises labour - and who gets the time, money and resources to care for their physical bodies, mental health and emotional well-being.
